The Practigal Son – Brandon Hector
Brandon is just an ordinary man who happens to be a lifelong Christian, philanthropist, and proud, (self-proclaimed) man of God. Through his academic, athletic, professional, and volunteer experiences, he has developed his gifts in leadership, mentor-ship, and life development. These experiences have afforded him the pleasure of being involved in workplace counseling, church administration, men’s and youth ministries, teaching, coaching, and receiving government-level training and experience as a youth specialist and chaplain for incarcerated and at-risk youth. He has also increased his aptitude with recent master’s level coursework in counseling at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
Brandon enjoys spending time with family and friends, and being a beacon of encouragement and guidance by sharing the practical credibility of God with others. His ministry theory, The Practigal Son, is derived from the more famous Prodigal Son depicted in the Canonical gospel of Luke, in the New Testament. The name metaphorically, embodies the spirit of the Prodigal Son’s brother and his pursuit to work out his own frustrations and character flaws, ultimately allowing God to transform him into a beacon of light to help the Prodigal Son find his way home. Although the bulk of Brandon’s work has been hands-on in nature, he has been encouraged for several years to put some of these experiences on paper in order to shine more light on, and tangibly reach out to, people he might never meet otherwise. Based on the response of his readers and their spiritual inspiration, Brandon hopes to follow this work with even more useful material and missions to better this community we call earth.
